Governor Ned Lamont

Financial Education

Previous Treasurer Denise L. Nappier has served as a catalyst and an effective advocate for financial literacy across the state. She worked with the private sector and community- and faith-based organizations to expand financial education. Improving financial literacy among Connecticut residents is a hallmark of her Administration.

Treasurer Nappier developed initiatives that provide economic opportunities for Connecticut citizens through asset- building programs and financial education. A major goal of the effort is to ensure the accessibility of these programs to youth, adults across the generations and underserved populations in the state.

Treasurer Nappier said, "Financial education is important during all stages of life, because economic opportunity can be a catalyst for change and enduring success. Our efforts working with organizations throughout the state have helped provide programs and assistance that can empower the people of Connecticut with information and training that can help them build a better future."

State Certified Curriculum

The Connecticut State Department of Education has endorsed financial literacy education.  To assist educators, a personal finance model curriculum has been developed by administrators and teachers from across the state, which can be found here.
